Terms and conditions

These are the house rules for using datwordtduur.nl. We keep them short and readable on purpose. By using the app you agree to them.

1. What the app is, and isn't

Based on your registration number and a symptom description, datwordtduur.nl gives you a likely diagnosis, an estimated difficulty level and a step-by-step plan. That's a tool, not a replacement for a professional mechanic. A remote diagnosis is never a hundred percent certain.

2. Diagnoses come from AI

The diagnoses and step-by-step plans are generated by an AI model based on your description and your car's details. They can be incomplete or incorrect. Think of it as a well-informed first estimate: always check for yourself what you find, and stop if something doesn't match what the app says.

3. Repairs are at your own risk

You carry out the repair and you judge whether you can handle it. Follow the safety rules, use the right tools, and leave work the app marks as "garage work", or anything you're unsure about, to a certified mechanic. Some jobs (such as air conditioning, airbags and the high-voltage systems of hybrids and EVs) may legally only be carried out by certified professionals.

4. Account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your login details to yourself and only use the account for your own, normal use. In case of misuse (such as bypassing limits or automated use) we can terminate your account.

5. Free and paid

With a free account you can do a limited number of diagnoses per week. Paid subscriptions are handled through Stripe and can be cancelled at any time; after cancelling, your subscription stays active until the end of the paid period. If prices change, we'll tell you in advance, and the new price only applies from your next period.

6. Parts links

The app links to external parts shops such as Winparts. We may receive a small commission on purchases made through those links; you pay nothing extra as a result. You buy directly from that shop, under their terms, we're not a party to that purchase and not responsible for delivery, quality or returns.

7. Liability

We do our best to make the app as good and honest as possible, but diagnoses are an estimate, not a guarantee. We don't guarantee that the information, diagnoses or step-by-step plans in the app are correct, complete or up to date.

We're not liable for damage arising from repairs you carry out yourself, decisions you make based on the app, or from not calling in a mechanic (in time), to the extent the law allows us to exclude that liability.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded regardless, it's limited to direct damage. Liability for consequential damage and other indirect damage is excluded. Our liability never exceeds the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event causing the damage.

We're not liable for damage resulting from force majeure, which includes at least outages at hosting or AI providers and circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

A claim for damages lapses if it is not submitted to us in writing within the statutory period.

These exclusions and limitations don't apply to damage resulting from intent or deliberate recklessness on our part. Nothing in these terms limits liability that may not legally be limited.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the app available at all times, but don't guarantee it. We can change or discontinue features; for major changes affecting a paid subscription, we'll tell you in advance.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we update the date at the top and announce major changes in the app. If you keep using the app afterwards, the new terms apply.

10. Governing law and contact

datwordtduur.nl is a trade name of De Product Builder, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 42115012 (VAT NL005506302B73). Dutch law applies to these terms. Questions? Email [email protected].
